1. Who founded Bycom and with what purpose?
By was founded 17 years ago with the goal of executing the highest standard of work for different brands, creating an ecosystem composed of the best talent and good human resource practices, with projects and clients that challenge us and find a specialist response in By concerning creativity and communications, multiplatform, and always with your business in mind.
2. How has it been the experience for you, leading succesfully an independent advertising agency?
The success of an independent creative agency comes not from being women, nor from being entrepreneurs, but rather from being people’s people. I have the good fortune and the honour of working alongside 70 incredible people, from which I learn more every day, and have a profound respect and admiration for because they chose to work at By and join this great creative family. It is my duty and responsibility to aid in their growth, nurture their dreams, keep them motivated and help them to go further. This is my daily mission. Everything else comes later.
3. Bycom projection plans are only local or you have plans for expansion?
The vast majority of projects developed by By are for national brands, but in recent years we have been exploring international markets (within Europe and the USA). Due to the excellent results we have achieved, this is something we are working on as a more focused goal for 2019/2020.
4. Do you feel 2018 is your best year?
By’s recent years have demonstrated our strength and focus. This year proves to be the best regarding award-winning work. So far, we have totalled 30 prizes between national and international competitions. Additionally, we are in the 100 Best Companies to work for in Portugal for the second consecutive year, proving that it is possible to produce excellent creative work and be happy doing so, achieving a good balance between professional and personal life. I am extremely proud of the By team, as we are surrounded by fantastic and talented people!

5. How was Bycom’s participation in WINA?
It was fantastic! We are competing in the Champions League of agencies, where opponents are powerful and operate in far greater markets than the Portuguese market, and yet we have been able to display our creative ability and come out as winners, which is a sign of recognition that we did not possess on a national scale. We are very grateful!
6. You were also Agency of the Year for Portugal in WINA: is that an honor or a responability?
It’s all of that, as well as a great feeling of pride in seeing our creative work being highlighted in a forum where our peers are creative giants and greatly respected opponents. WINA is an incredible platform that brings the best creative work to the top, regardless of nation or size. We are proof of that.
7. What is currently the biggest challenge of your agency?
By is working on a major goal for 2020, based on two main pillars: the creativity and happiness of our creative team.
8. And yours as professional?
My professional challenge is to keep up with the people I work with every day, and to be able to bring out the best in their creativity and happiness.
9. What do you think about the rising FICE ranking, in wich will finally be known who are the best in each country and Latin America in the Total Ranking with the best of the year?
The FICE ranking is fundamental to this market. It is an indicator of best practice concerning creativity, and an excellent platform for recognition and dispersion of the good work in this area. It has everything it needs to continue to be a success.
